Fun FactsVermicelli are named so thanks to their shape, which is similar to worms. This name is very old - in fact documents exist from 1284 that talk about their sales. Pasta makers in the Naples area in the 1500s were called "vermicellari". The first published recipe with vermicelli was probably Mastro Martino’s, author of the book Libro de arte coquinaria (1464-65) (Book of Culinary Art).
