The design
Our Gragnano Pasta Factory packaging design
Our company philosophy is also in the packaging design
It may seem strange to discuss design in a food and wine context; you may be asking what could link pasta to design. Yet within our company there is a very strong link.
Our pasta’s packaging design was studied with great attention - behind each package of our Gragnano pasta there is a dream, an idea, a purpose: with the few images and phrases printed upon this design, we give life to over 500 years of the history of pasta, give a face to those who make the pasta, and show the entire productive process.
We chose packaging that would firstly satisfy our need for transparency, and secondly satisfy our corporate social responsibility, turning our employees into the protagonists of our products’ success. Lastly, we chose this packaging because it is so robust.
Each box of Pasta dei Campi is created in cardboard with plastic windows that are easily detached. Doing so, every component of the box can be recycled, the pasta is protected from any possible shipping damage, and the pasta can be easily seen when the package is closed. Additionally, the package was created to be ideal for re-use as a container of other foodstuffs. The strip which indicates the type of pasta in the package also serves as a seal of guarantee.
Why did we choose a cube form? For various reasons: because it has six sides and each side can be utilized to communicate our company’s founding values, it is transparent, and it gives a voice to each ‘actor’ in our product line. The regular form of a cube is also easier to pack, ship, and display in a shop.
Lastly, here in Gragnano in our pasta factory, the packaging is always done by hand. Our pasta needs care and attention, and for this reason every single box is manually filled with the utmost precision.
