Two houses, lots of rain but with comfort food

There is nothing that a good plate of pasta with the ragu’ can’t fix and the past weekend my new flatmates and me we proved how much this is true.

More than Easter holidays for me these 4 days were real nightmare: I came and go from my old house to the new one with lots of stuff, fighting with the space and the cleaning to do. The weather was horrible and yesterday was raining a lot. All my muscles were hurting but my food and my friends were there for me to spend the Easter lunch together… or better a brunch!

I decided to use my new kitchen straight away preparing something absolutely new for me: a classic Easter English recipe and a classic Italian one: hot cross buns and Mafaldine with ragu' of lamb. Of course we had eggs, salami, cheese, wine, salad, the classic colomba too, but the main attractions of the day were my two dishes.

The ragu’ was so rich and the Mafaldine pasta so delicious and consistent that we could not finish 500 gr of pasta in five. It grew a  lot and the brunch was a real feast. I cooked the lamb with parsley, rosemary a bit of chilli, mint and a little sprinkle of lemon zest and I served it with pecorino cheese.

Here a little pic of my hot cross buns too and finally a sneak pic of my moving. Do you notice anything in this bag? Pastificio dei Campi boxes are great to keep in order your kitchen cupboard, and are great to move your kitchen stuff too.

What I did on Easter Monday? My flatmates and me were thinking to bake the pasta from the day before with some mozzarella and parmesan, but finally we simply hot them up in the microwave. All of us were really impressed: the pasta was still al dente even after the microwave! This is the real pasta test!

I hope you enjoyed the break too and if you didn’t eat any pasta in those days, here is the recipe for your next dish!

Pastificio dei Campi for couples and singles

As any other year it’s almost Saint Valentine's Day and everywhere is an explosion of heart, adverts with chocolate boxes, flowers, champaign bottles etc.

It’s true that lots of people don’t really care about this day anymore, but finally it’s an excuse as another to spend some quality time with their other half. But what if you are alone…

In Italy we solved the problem proclaiming the 15th of February the "Singles' day" and Saint Faustino, the saint of the day, is now also the saint of all the singles: big parties are organized in clubs and between friends and finally everyone has is own day of fun.

At Pastificio dei Campi we think we are in charge to make everyone always happy especially if in love with the good food. So we made specific packaging for couple but also for singles who want always change shape of pasta and enjoying it alone!

Here I present you... Duetto (250 gr) and Egoista (125 gr) from Pastificio dei Campi.

Choose the shape you like the most and dedicate the dinner to your other half … or just to you! Look for them at Foodinthecity or at Melograno Deli.

So, are you going to have a romantic dinner or just a … “selfish” one?

Anyway, we hope you will enjoy it!

A delicious Bookshop

A new kind of Deli  in Rome

For Christmas I came back to Italy as usual and I went to discover the latest places opened in the city. One of this is the “Libreria Settembrini”, a tiny special place in Rome, born to answer to different needs.

Settembrini is already a famous café and restaurant in Rome and this year they opened this new space, absolutely innovative in its genre, but cosy and really beautiful. A place to put together the love for books and good food.

At first look is a simple bookshop, little but really nice and with a peculiar selection of book. In the middle it hosts a big wooden table and on a side a mini kitchen that creates simple salads and dishes, ready to hot up and serve in the room. All the ingredients are top quality, like in the same restaurant on the other side of the street, but the meals are quicker and perfect for a brunch or a glass of wine with friends.

We loved the place, the menu, the books and the hampers they were preparing for Christmas…and with my big surprises I even discovered they were selling Pastificio dei Campi pasta, with the tiny duetto box, 250gr of pasta, created for the couples. In the hamper with the pasta there is wine, biscuits, other gourmet ingredients and a nice Christmas book for children.

If you pass by Rome, have a stop in this nice place. I’m sure you will like it!

Other Christmas ideas for your presents

Still looking for the latest presents? Are you already planning the shops you will visit this weekend to look for some great Christmas idea? Here i am to help you out.

If last week i told you about the great Maxi Cubes of Pastificio dei Campi, available directly on our website, this time i will give you another idea for your presents.

What about a Christmas hamper filled with the best italian product available on the market? We are sure this will be a present that will make everyone happy and, especially in these times, spend on food is always a good idea.

And if you are looking for great italian products, i will suggest you to go to Food in the City or to Melograno Deli.

Food in the city is a warehouse based in St. John's wood (London) but it's also a great website where you can order directly online. The hampers you can see here is just and example and you can ask for a bespoke one. Over £40 the delivery is free.

Have a look and you will remain amazed by the quality of their products.

Melograno Deli instead is in Holland Park (London) and they are also specialized on italian brands but they also have cheeses, cold cuts and lots of other typical products.

"Our hampers are made with acacia wood accessories (cheeseboards or salad servers) and they can be made up either by us, or with products of the customers choosing."

At this point, I can just suggest you to have a look at the London map and enjoy your weekend of italian delicatessen... and don't forget to add our pasta to your shopping.

A new place to try and buy Pastificio dei Campi

We are so excited about the opening of Fornata next week in Kingly Street, Soho. Created by the Chef Douglas Santi already proud owner of the plury-awarded Babbo on Mayfair, Fornata will be the new place open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, where to enjoy great Italian food and high quality products of our gastronomic tradition.

With an exposed kitchen where the oven, "forno" in Italian, will be the protagonist, the restaurant is divided in two floor: a ground floor where it will be recreated the atmosphere and the vibe of the classic Italian aperitif, while over ground it will be offered the most simple, honest and great Italian food.

It’s a long time since the last new opening of a restaurant, but this time it’s even more special because Pastificio dei Campi won’t be just used by the restaurant in their menu but it will be also sold there and in two new formats:  Egoista, the 125gr box and  Duetto, the 250gr.

Then freshly baked Italian breads and pastries served with authentic Italian coffee all the morning while the bar will be open until 1.00am for late night cocktails. I can’t wait to have my Negroni at the bar and try the chef Santi's cuisine, for a perfect Italian style night out.

Pastificio dei Campi at Haute Cuisine Paris

We were delighted to be invited to  the event Haute Cuisine Paris, an amazing festival dedicated to the art of gastronomy, launched in Paris this year for the first time. Everything there was "fantastique" from the venue to the organization and our pasta Pastificio dei Campi was absolutely in its perfect place: confident, beautiful in its black and red cubes, and golden shining when out of the box, happy to be seen and to be part of a special dish created for the occasion.

Here we want to share with you just some pictures from the event, in case you didn't see them in real time on Twitter. I think these really speak by themselves.

This is the Rigatoni Vesuvio on a light tomatoes ragu' made by the chef  Alfonso Iaccarino from the restaurant Don Alfonso 1890 (Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi -NA).
